Biography

Rachel Gardner is a producer of film and television. She studied at the London School of Economics and worked as a journalist at the Financial Times before returning to New Zealand in 2002. She began producing with the documentary Colin McCahon: I Am and later worked on series including The Lion Man, which led to her becoming head of drama at Great Southern Film and Television.

Gardner has frequently collaborated with Angela Littlejohn on short films and features such as Apron Strings (2008), Show of Hands (2008) and Slow West (2015). She joined See-Saw Films in 2014 and has since served as producer or executive producer on titles including The New Legends of Monkey (2018–2020), The End (2020), Firebite (2021–2022) and The Stranger (2022).

In 2023 she was appointed to the board of the South Australian Film Corporation. She is creative director at Curio Pictures.
