Biography
Ralf Wolter was a German stage and screen actor. He began his career on the Berlin stage and in cabaret in the late 1940s after training at a Berlin drama school, making his film debut in Die Frauen des Herrn S. (1951). He appeared in nearly 220 films and television productions over more than sixty years, specialising in comedic supporting roles.
Wolter gained international recognition for his performances in Hollywood productions, including the Soviet agent Borodenko in Billy Wilder's One, Two, Three (1961) and Herr Ludwig in Bob Fosse's Cabaret (1972). In Germany he was best known for playing the trapper Sam Hawkens in several Karl May film adaptations of the 1960s, such as Treasure of Silver Lake (1962) and Apache Gold (1963), a role he later reprised on television. He also provided the voice of Miraculix in the animated film Asterix Conquers America (1994).
