Biography

Ramsey Nickell is a cinematographer and director. He was born on 10 August 1963 in Landstuhl, West Germany.

Nickell began his career in music videos, working as a gaffer with directors of photography including Larry Fong, Bill Pope and Samuel Bayer. He contributed to more than fifty music videos with Bayer, starting with Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit". As director of photography he has worked on feature films including Casa de mi Padre (2012), Chaos Theory (2008) and Let's Go to Prison (2006), and on television series such as American Crime (2015–2017), Lethal Weapon (2016) and Marvel's Runaways (2017). He served as director of photography on Scream 7 (2026). Nickell has also directed episodes of Runaways and Nancy Drew.
