Biography
Rasheed Newson is an American television writer, producer and novelist. He grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduated from Georgetown University. He began his screenwriting career after moving to Los Angeles in 2002, working in various assistant roles before partnering with T.J. Brady. The pair were hired as staff writers on the Fox series Lie to Me in 2008.
As a writing team, Newson and Brady have contributed to series including Narcos (2015–2016), The 100 (2014), Shooter (2016–2018), The Chi (2020) and Animal Kingdom (2017). Newson co-developed the Peacock series Bel-Air (2022–), serving as executive producer and showrunner. He is also the author of the novels My Government Means to Kill Me (2022) and There’s Only One Sin in Hollywood (2026).
