Biography

Ray Mendoza is an American filmmaker and former U.S. Navy SEAL. He enlisted in 1997 and served for more than 16 years, including with SEAL Team 5 and in instructor roles.

While still serving, he appeared in Act of Valor (2012). He subsequently worked as a technical advisor, military consultant and in stunts on films including Lone Survivor (2013), Jurassic World (2015), Mile 22 (2018), Emancipation (2022), The Outpost (2020) and Civil War (2024).

Mendoza co-wrote and co-directed the 2025 film Warfare with Alex Garland. The project reconstructs a 2006 mission in Ramadi, Iraq, drawn from the recollections of Mendoza and his platoon.
