Biography
Ray Orton is a British cinematographer. Born in January 1946 in Uxbridge, Middlesex, he began working in camera and electrical departments in the late 1960s on productions including the film Kes (1969) and the documentary series The World at War (1974).
He later worked as director of photography or lighting cameraman on films such as Leaving Lenin (1993) and television series including Torchwood (2006–2007), Made in Wales (2009–2010), The Indian Doctor (2010–2012) and The Sparticle Mystery (2011). Orton also contributed to The Machine (2013) as second unit cinematographer. He received a BAFTA Cymru nomination for Best Photography and Lighting: Fiction in 2011.
