Biography

Ray Sahetapy (also credited as Ferenc Raymond Sahetapy) was an Indonesian actor. Born on 1 January 1957 in Donggala, he studied at the Jakarta Arts Institute and made his film debut in Gadis (1980). He appeared in dozens of films across four decades, including many during the 1980s and early 1990s.

Sahetapy is known for roles such as Tama in The Raid (2011), Dharma in Killers (2014), Lesmana in May the Devil Take You (2018) and its 2020 sequel, and an uncredited part in Captain America: Civil War (2016). He received seven nominations for the Citra Award and won Best Supporting Actor at the 2013 Indonesian Movie Awards for The Raid.

Sahetapy died on 1 April 2025 in Jakarta, aged 68.
