Biography
Raymond Hakim (1909–1980) was an Egyptian-born French film producer. With his brother Robert Hakim he founded the production company Paris-Film Production in 1934. Their early work included Julien Duvivier’s Pépé le Moko (1937) and Jean Renoir’s La Bête Humaine (1938).
The brothers moved to Hollywood during the Second World War, where they produced films including Jean Renoir’s The Southerner (1945). They returned to France in the early 1950s and continued to produce a range of French and international features, among them Casque d’Or (1952), Purple Noon (1960), L’Eclisse (1962), Les Bonnes Femmes (1960) and Luis Buñuel’s Belle de Jour (1967).
