Biography

Raymond Hughes was a British costume designer for television and film. He joined the BBC costume department in 1966 and rose to head costume designer, working on numerous series including The Pallisers (1974).

Hughes designed costumes for the Doctor Who serial The Invisible Enemy (1977). His film credits include Countess Dracula (1971), Return to Oz (1985), Young Sherlock Holmes (1985), The Whistle Blower (1986), Jack the Ripper (1988), Jekyll & Hyde (1990) and The Musketeer (2001). He received a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design for a Drama Series for The Pallisers.
