Biography

Rebecca Johnson is a British writer and director. After graduating with a Fine Art degree, she spent more than a decade working on community filmmaking projects with young people in Brixton, producing several short films. Her 2009 short Top Girl won awards at festivals including the BFI Black Filmmakers Festival and screened at Berlin, Rotterdam and Clermont-Ferrand.

Her debut feature Honeytrap (2015), which she also wrote, premiered at the BFI London Film Festival in 2014 and received a UK release the following year. Johnson has directed episodes of television series including Supergirl (2017), The Magicians (2017–2018), Call the Midwife (2018) and The Flash (2019). She was named a Screen International Star of Tomorrow in 2009 and was mentored by Paul Greengrass.
