Biography
Rebecca Naomi Jones is an American actress and singer. She received a BFA in drama from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and appeared in national tours of Rent and Caroline, or Change before making her Off-Broadway debut in Passing Strange in 2007.
Jones made her Broadway debut in Passing Strange (2008) as Sherry, Renata and Desi, reprising the roles in the 2009 film adaptation directed by Spike Lee. She is also known for her Broadway performances in American Idiot (2010) and Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2015), and for being the first woman of colour to play Laurey in Oklahoma! (2019), for which she received a Drama Desk Award nomination. Her film work includes The Big Sick (2017) and Someone Great (2019).
On television, Jones has appeared in episodes of Fringe (2008), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2011), Blue Bloods and And Just Like That… (2021).
