Biography
Regina Y. Hicks is an American television writer and producer. She began her career in the 1990s and has written for series including Sister, Sister (1994), Girlfriends (2000) and Insecure (2016).
Hicks attended the University of Georgia, where she earned a bachelor's degree in television production and a master of fine arts in drama. Her film writing credits include Jump In! (2007), Camp Rock (2008), Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam (2010) and Drumline: A New Beat (2014). She co-created and serves as showrunner on the Netflix series The Upshaws (2021).
Hicks has received NAACP Image Award nominations for outstanding writing in a comedy for Girlfriends and Instant Mom. She was awarded the King-Tisdell Cottage Foundation Fine Arts Award in 2007 and has served as a governor of the Television Academy.
