Biography
René Cleitman was a French film producer. Born in Paris on 22 May 1940, he began his career in advertising and radio, serving as director of programmes at Europe 1 before entering film production.
In 1981 he founded Hachette Première, a subsidiary of the Hachette group, through which he produced more than twenty features. His credits include Tenue de soirée (1986), Tandem (1987), Monsieur Hire (1989), Cyrano de Bergerac (1990), Tango (1993) and The Horseman on the Roof (1995). He also co-founded HPGD Production with Gérard Depardieu and later worked with EuropaCorp.
Cleitman died on 14 December 2004 in Suresnes, near Paris. His final production, Les Yeux clairs, was released posthumously in 2005.
