Biography
Rex Thompson is an American actor. Born on 14 December 1942 in New York City, he began his career as a child performer on Broadway, making his debut in the musical Alive and Kicking (1950) and later serving as understudy for the role of Louis Leonowens in the original stage production of The King and I (1951).
He is best known for portraying Louis Leonowens in the 1956 film adaptation of The King and I, opposite Deborah Kerr and Yul Brynner. Other film credits include Young Bess (1953), in which he played Prince Edward opposite Kerr, The Eddy Duchin Story (1956) and All Mine to Give (1957). He also appeared in television series such as The Doctors and The Fugitive, and returned to Broadway in several plays during the 1950s and 1970s.
