Biography
Richard Bakalyan was an American character actor. Born on 29 January 1931 in Watertown, Massachusetts, he died on 27 February 2015 in Elmira, New York. He began his career in the mid-1950s playing juvenile delinquents in low-budget films such as The Delinquents (1957) and The Delicate Delinquent (1957).
Bakalyan appeared in numerous films over five decades, including Von Ryan's Express (1965), The St. Valentine's Day Massacre (1967) and several Disney productions. He is best known for playing Detective Loach in Roman Polanski's Chinatown (1974). He also provided the voice of Dinky in the animated film The Fox and the Hound (1981).
On television he had recurring or guest roles in series including Batman (1966), The Untouchables, My Name Is Earl (2005) and Cold Case (2003). His screen career spanned from 1954 to 2008.
