Biography
Richard Balducci was a French screenwriter, director and actor. Born in Paris in 1922, he began his career as a war correspondent and later worked as a press attaché for the Olympia music hall and numerous film directors including Jean-Luc Godard.
He appeared uncredited as Tolmatchoff in Godard's Breathless (1960). Balducci originated the characters and story for the Le Gendarme de Saint-Tropez series starring Louis de Funès, co-writing the first three films: Le Gendarme de Saint-Tropez (1964), The Gendarme in New York (1965) and The Gendarme Gets Married (1968). He also directed and wrote several comedies in the 1970s and 1980s, including Le facteur de Saint-Tropez (1985).
Balducci died in Créteil in 2015.
