Biography
Richard Hankin is a documentary editor and filmmaker. He edited Capturing the Friedmans (2003), on which he also served as co-producer, and has worked extensively with director Andrew Jarecki.
A graduate of Columbia University’s film school, Hankin is the founder of Looking Glass Films. He has edited or supervised editing on projects including 16 Acres (2012), which he also directed, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst (2015–2024) and The Alabama Solution (2025).
Hankin has received Emmy Awards for his editing on Capturing the Friedmans and The Jinx, as well as an American Cinema Editors Award for the latter series.
