Biography
Richard Jeni (born Richard John Colangelo) was an American stand-up comedian and actor. He was born on 14 April 1957 in Brooklyn, New York, and died on 10 March 2007 in Los Angeles, California. He graduated with honours from Hunter College with a bachelor's degree in comparative politics before beginning stand-up comedy in 1982.
Jeni appeared frequently on The Tonight Show, with more appearances than any other stand-up comedian. His Showtime and HBO specials included Richard Jeni: The Boy from New York City (1989) and Richard Jeni: Platypus Man (1992); the latter led to the 1995 UPN sitcom Platypus Man, in which he starred. He played Charlie Schumaker in the 1994 film The Mask and appeared in An Alan Smithee Film: Burn, Hollywood, Burn (1998).
