Biography
Richard Lourie is an American writer, translator and novelist. He has translated more than thirty books from Russian and Polish, including works by Andrei Sakharov, Vladimir Voinovich and Czesław Miłosz. His own books include the novels Sagittarius in Warsaw (1973), First Loyalty (1985) and The Autobiography of Joseph Stalin (1999), as well as the biography Sakharov: A Biography (2002).
Lourie wrote the episode 'Victims of Circumstance' for the television series Miami Vice (1989). He has also contributed articles and reviews to publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The New Republic and The Nation. He was born in 1940 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
