Biography
Richard Reitinger is a German screenwriter born on 6 April 1951 in Munich. He began writing for film and television in 1985 after earlier work as a street singer, streetworker and publisher.
He co-wrote the screenplay for Wings of Desire (1987) with Wim Wenders and Peter Handke. Reitinger later collaborated again with Wenders on the sequel Faraway, So Close! (1993), sharing credit with Ulrich Zieger. His original screenplay for the first film provided the basis for the 1998 Hollywood remake City of Angels. Other credits include the screenplay for Jungle Child (2011) and episodes of television series such as Einsatz in Hamburg.
From 2007 to 2022 Reitinger was professor of screenwriting at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg and artistic director of the Hamburg Media School.
