Biography
Richard S. Castellano (4 September 1933 – 10 December 1988) was an American actor. He is best known for playing Peter Clemenza in The Godfather (1972).
Castellano received an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor for his role in Lovers and Other Strangers (1970) and had earlier appeared in the stage version of the work, for which he won a Tony Award. He also had a lead role in the television series The Super (1972). He did not reprise the part of Clemenza in The Godfather Part II (1974) following differences with director Francis Ford Coppola.
Born in New York City, Castellano began acting in the early 1960s after working in construction and theatre. He appeared in several other films, including Honor Thy Father (1973) and Night of the Juggler (1980), often in roles depicting Italian-American characters.
