Biography
Richard Thorpe is a cinematographer, producer and director, also credited as Richard B. Thorpe. He worked as a camera operator on series including Nightingales (1989) and China Beach (1989–1991) before becoming a director of photography.
Thorpe served as director of photography on ER (1994) for 104 episodes between 1994 and 2000. He later directed 31 episodes of the series and worked as co-producer and producer on more than 200 episodes from 1998 to 2007. He was also director of photography on The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. (1993–1994).
Thorpe received four Primetime Emmy nominations for his work on ER, including for Outstanding Drama Series (2000 and 2001), Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (1996) and Outstanding Lighting Direction (1998).
