Biography
Richard Tognetti is an Australian violinist, conductor, composer and arranger. He has been artistic director and lead violinist of the Australian Chamber Orchestra since 1989.
He studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and later at the Bern Conservatory in Switzerland. Tognetti co-composed the score for the 2003 film Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World with Iva Davies and Christopher Gordon. His other film credits include original music for the documentaries Mountain (2017) and River (2021).
In 2010 he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for service to music.
