Biography
Richard Vaczy is an American television writer and producer. Born on 14 August 1959 in Brooklyn, New York, he was raised on Long Island and graduated from UCLA film school. He entered the industry after appearing as a contestant on Wheel of Fortune, which led to a page position on The Merv Griffin Show.
Vaczy wrote episodes of series including The Golden Girls (1985), Newhart (1982), 227 (1985) and Married... with Children (1987). On The Golden Girls he also served as executive story editor, co-producer, supervising producer and co-executive producer, earning two Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series. He created the series Here and Now (1992) and Hitz (1997), and contributed to international adaptations of American sitcoms.
