Biography
Richard Donnelly is a cinematographer born on 22 June 1969 in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland. He is a member of the Irish Society of Cinematographers (ISC) and is based in Dublin.
He began his career in the camera department, working as a clapper loader on Space Truckers (1996) and as a focus puller on Intermission (2003) and The Actors (2003). He later served as director of photography on series including The Last Kingdom (2015), The Nevers (2021, credited as Richie Donnelly) and House of the Dragon (2022).
Donnelly shot episodes of 3 Body Problem (2024) for Netflix, collaborating with Jonathan Freeman on the first two episodes. Subsequent credits include Dune: Prophecy (2024) and The Witcher (2025).
