Biography
Rik Vollaerts, born Hendrik Vollaerts, was a Dutch-born American screenwriter who worked primarily in television during the 1950s and 1960s. He was born on 6 June 1915 in Wouw, Netherlands, immigrated to the United States as a child, graduated from the University of Chicago, and became a naturalised US citizen in 1940. He died on 15 March 1988 in Mission Viejo, California.
Vollaerts wrote episodes for numerous series, including Leave It to Beaver (1957), Batman (1966), Bonanza, Rawhide, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Wagon Train, Lawman and Highway Patrol. He contributed the story for the Star Trek episode 'For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky', which aired in 1968. He had previously worked with Gene Roddenberry on the 1950s series Mr. District Attorney.
