Biography
Rita Ann Johnson (13 August 1913 – 31 October 1965) was an American actress. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, she began her career on Broadway in 1935 and entered films two years later after early work in radio, including the lead role in the serial Joyce Jordan, M.D.
She appeared in supporting roles in films such as Edison, the Man (1940), Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941) as Julia Farnsworth, The Major and the Minor (1942), They Won't Believe Me (1947) and The Big Clock (1948). Johnson was married twice, to Stanley Kahn (1940–1943) and Edwin Hutzler (1943–1946).
In 1948 she suffered a serious head injury that required brain surgery and interrupted her career; she continued in smaller film and television parts until the mid-1950s.
