Biography

Rita Rudner is an American comedian, actress and writer. She was born on 17 September 1953 in Miami, Florida. She began her career as a dancer in Broadway productions including Follies and Annie before turning to stand-up comedy in the late 1970s.

Rudner is known for her stand-up specials and television appearances in both the United States and the United Kingdom. With her husband Martin Bergman she co-wrote the screenplay for the film Peter's Friends (1992), in which she also appeared as Carol Benson. She has written several books and maintained a long-running solo comedy show in Las Vegas.
