Biography
Rob DesHotel was a television writer and producer. He graduated from Webster University with a degree in media communications in 1988 and began his career as a writers’ assistant on the NBC soap opera Santa Barbara (1990–1991). His early writing credits included episodes of The Adventures of Pete & Pete (1993) and Duckman (1994).
DesHotel joined Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) as a story editor in season one and was promoted to executive story editor in season two, co-writing five episodes with Dean Batali. He later worked extensively on That ’70s Show (1998), rising from co-producer to executive producer while writing multiple episodes. Subsequent credits included writing and producing roles on Gary Unmarried (2008), Mike & Molly (2010), Mad Love (2011) and Man with a Plan (2016). He also contributed to True Blood and I Hate My Teenage Daughter.
DesHotel died on 10 December 2018 in California, aged 52.
