Biography
Robert B. Radnitz was an American film producer known for family-oriented dramas adapted from children's literature. His best-known work was the 1972 film Sounder, which received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Born in Great Neck, New York, Radnitz graduated from the University of Virginia and began in theatre before producing his first film, A Dog of Flanders, in 1960. He went on to produce titles including Island of the Blue Dolphins (1964), My Side of the Mountain (1969), Where the Lilies Bloom (1974) and Cross Creek (1983). Sounder also earned three further Oscar nominations and several other awards.
Radnitz died in Malibu, California, in 2010.
