Biography
Robert Bassler (1903–1975) was an American film and television producer. After studying at George Washington University, he began his career in 1924 as a researcher at Paramount Pictures, later working as a film editor there from 1928 to 1930. He spent time as a literary agent before returning to Hollywood in 1942 as a producer under contract at 20th Century Fox.
Bassler produced numerous features at Fox, including The Black Swan (1942), The Lodger (1944), Hangover Square (1945), The Snake Pit (1948), Thieves' Highway (1949), The House on Telegraph Hill (1951), Halls of Montezuma (1951) and Suddenly (1954). He later worked in episodic television and retired in 1960.
