Biography
Robert Carson was an American screenwriter, novelist and short story writer. He was born on 6 October 1909 in Clayton, Washington, and died on 19 January 1983 in Los Angeles, California.
Carson wrote the original story for A Star Is Born (1937) with William A. Wellman and shared the Academy Award for best original story; he also received a screenplay credit with Alan Campbell and Dorothy Parker. His other film credits include Beau Geste (1939), The Light That Failed (1939), Western Union (1941) and Bundle of Joy (1956). He contributed to television series such as Studio One and published novels including The Revels Are Ended (1936).
He was married to former child actress Mary Jane Irving. During the Second World War he served as a lieutenant colonel in the US Army Air Corps, writing training films.
