Biography
Robert D. Siegel is an American writer and film director. He graduated from the University of Michigan and worked at the satirical newspaper The Onion, serving as senior editor from 1996 to 1999 and editor-in-chief from 1999 to 2003.
Siegel wrote the screenplay for The Wrestler (2008), directed by Darren Aronofsky. The film won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. He also wrote and directed Big Fan (2009), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. His other screenwriting credits include The Onion Movie (2008), Turbo (2013) and The Founder (2016). He created and wrote the television series Pam & Tommy (2022) and Welcome to Chippendales (2022).
