Biography
Robert Fuest was an English film and television director, screenwriter and production designer. He was born in Croydon, London, on 30 September 1927 and studied at Wimbledon and Hornsey Schools of Art. After teaching illustration and lithography at Southampton School of Art, he entered television as a production designer.
Fuest worked on the first series of The Avengers (1961) as production designer and later directed seven episodes of the series. He also directed two episodes of the revived The New Avengers (1976). His feature films as director include Just Like a Woman (1967), And Soon the Darkness (1970), Wuthering Heights (1970), The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) and Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972).
Fuest died in London on 21 March 2012.
