Biography
Robert H. Planck was an American cinematographer. Born Robert Herbert Planck on 19 August 1902 in Huntington, Indiana, he began working as a director of photography in 1929 and joined MGM in 1940, remaining there until 1956.
He received four Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography, for Anchors Aweigh (1945, shared with Charles P. Boyle), The Three Musketeers (1948), Little Women (1949, shared with Charles Schoenbaum) and Lili (1953). His other MGM credits include Madame Bovary (1949), Summer Stock (1950), Royal Wedding (1951) and Moonfleet (1955). Later he worked on the television series My Three Sons (1960–1966). Planck died on 31 October 1971 in Camarillo, California.
