Biography
Robert Maillet is a Canadian actor and retired professional wrestler. He began wrestling in 1989 under names including the Acadian Giant and Goliath El Gigante, and competed in Canada, Japan and South Korea. In 1997 he joined the World Wrestling Federation as Kurrgan, a member of The Truth Commission and later The Oddities, before retiring from the ring around 2011 to focus on acting.
Maillet made his film debut in 2007 as the Uber Immortal in 300. Subsequent roles include Dredger in Sherlock Holmes (2009), the Minotaur in Immortals (2011), Lt. Aleksis Kaidanovsky in Pacific Rim (2013), Blackwell in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013), Polyphemus in Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013), the Executioner in Hercules (2014), Sluggo in Deadpool 2 (2018) and Apex in Becky (2020). He has also appeared in television series including The Strain and The Umbrella Academy.
