Biography
Robert Reed Altman is an American cinematographer and camera operator. Born on 22 December 1959 in Los Angeles, he is the son of filmmaker Robert Altman and Kathryn Reed. He began working in film in the 1970s as a focus puller and second assistant camera on several of his father’s productions, including Nashville (1975) and Popeye (1980).
Altman has served as camera operator or director of photography on feature films such as Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001), The Scorpion King (2002), Cloverfield (2008) and A Prairie Home Companion (2006). His television credits include camera work and cinematography on series including The O.C., Lost, Chuck and Bones (2005), where he also directed an episode.
