Biography
Robert Shields (born 26 March 1951) is an American mime artist and actor. Born in Los Angeles, California, he studied mime in Paris and began performing as a street mime in San Francisco's Union Square. He appeared as The Mime in Francis Ford Coppola's film The Conversation (1974).
With his then-wife Lorene Yarnell, he formed the mime and comedy duo Shields and Yarnell. They appeared on numerous television programmes in the 1970s, including The Muppet Show (1976), and starred in their own CBS variety series Shields and Yarnell (1977–1978).
After their divorce in 1986, Shields later established a jewellery design company in Arizona.
