Biography
Robert Wales was a Scottish writer and playwright. Born and educated in Scotland, he served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War before emigrating to Australia. He worked in manufacturing and as a cattle grazier and gold prospector near Walcha, New South Wales, where he began writing plays and short stories.
Wales returned to Britain in the mid-1960s. His stage plays include The Hobby Horse (1962) and The Cell (1966), the latter later adapted for television. He wrote for British series including an episode of The Sweeney (1976) and Van der Valk (1977), and served as script editor on the mini-series The Search for Alexander the Great (1981). His novel Harry (1985) was adapted into the film Bullseye (1987).
