Biography
Robert Walker (1961–2015) was a Canadian-born animator and director who worked primarily at Walt Disney Feature Animation's Florida studio. He studied animation at Sheridan College in Ontario and began his career at Atkinson Film-Arts, contributing to television series including Dennis the Menace and The Raccoons.
Walker joined Disney in 1989 as a layout artist on the Roger Rabbit short Roller Coaster Rabbit. He worked in layout and supervisory roles on films including The Rescuers Down Under (1990), Beauty and the Beast (1991), Aladdin (1992), The Lion King (1994), Mulan (1998) and Lilo & Stitch (2002). He co-directed Brother Bear (2003) with Aaron Blaise; the film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature.
Walker died of a heart attack at his home in California on 1 April 2015.
