Biography
Robin Scholes is a New Zealand producer whose credits include the feature films Once Were Warriors (1994), Broken English (1996), Mr. Pip (2012), Mahana (2016) and The Convert (2023). She has also produced television series such as Black Hands (2020) and The Bad Seed (2019), as well as documentaries including Colin McCahon: I Am (2004).
Scholes trained in art history and film studies, lecturing at Auckland and Essex universities before attending the New York Film School as a Fulbright Scholar. She worked at TVNZ and co-founded the production company Communicado with Neil Roberts in 1983, where she produced early features for directors including Lee Tamahori and Gregor Nicholas. In 1997 she was appointed an OBE for services to film and television; she received the Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2025.
