Biography
Rodrigo Sorogoyen is a Spanish film director and screenwriter. Born on 16 September 1981 in Madrid, he is the grandson of filmmaker Antonio del Amo. He graduated in history from the Complutense University of Madrid and studied at the ECAM from 2004.
Sorogoyen often collaborates with screenwriter Isabel Peña. His feature films include Stockholm (2013), May God Save Us (2016), The Realm (2018), Mother (2019) and The Beasts (2022). He co-created the television series Riot Police (2020) and The New Years (2024).
He has won Goya Awards for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for both The Realm and The Beasts. His short film Mother (2017) won the Goya for Best Fictional Short Film and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film.
