Biography
Roger Frappier is a Canadian film producer. He was born on 14 April 1945 in Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel, Québec. He began his career in film as a critic, editor and director before establishing himself as a producer, working at the National Film Board of Canada and later founding Max Films with Pierre Gendron.
Frappier has produced numerous notable Québec films, including The Decline of the American Empire (1986), Jesus of Montreal (1989), Maelström (2000), Seducing Doctor Lewis (2003) and The Grand Seduction (2014). He has also produced international co-productions such as The Power of the Dog (2021), directed by Jane Campion.
His productions have received multiple Genie Awards and Golden Reel Awards. Frappier received the Order of Arts and Letters from the French government in 1996 and was appointed an Officer of the National Order of Québec in 2010.
