Biography
Roger Hanin was a French actor and director. Born Roger Lévy in Algiers in 1925, he appeared in numerous films from the 1950s onwards, including as Carl Zubart in Jean-Luc Godard's Breathless (1960) and as Morini in Luchino Visconti's Rocco and His Brothers (1960).
He gained wider recognition in France for roles in films such as The Kick of Sirocco (1979) and The Big Pardon (1982). From 1989 to 2006 he played the title character in the long-running TF1 crime series Navarro, appearing in over 100 episodes. Hanin also directed several films, including Hell Train (1985), which won a Special Prize at the Moscow International Film Festival.
His wife was producer Christine Gouze-Rénal.
