Biography

Roger Horrocks is an underwater cinematographer specialising in wildlife sequences for documentaries. He has worked on projects for the BBC, National Geographic, Disney and Netflix since 2007.

Horrocks developed his underwater skills as a competitive spear fisherman while studying at the University of Natal in South Africa. He is based in Cape Town and has collaborated extensively with filmmaker Craig Foster. His credits include Blue Planet 2 (2017), Our Planet (2019) and My Octopus Teacher (2020), on which he served as director of photography.

For My Octopus Teacher he received the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Cinematography. He also contributed to Blue Planet 2, which earned a BAFTA for Outstanding Cinematography.
