Biography
Roger Woddis (17 May 1917 – 16 July 1993) was a British writer and humorous poet. He began his career contributing material to revues at the Little Unity Theatre in London during the 1930s and 1940s.
Woddis wrote for television, including the episode 'Hammer into Anvil' of the series The Prisoner (1967). He also contributed episodes to Armchair Theatre (1968), Haunted (1967) and Churchill's People (1975). His poetry appeared regularly in Radio Times and other periodicals; from 1970 he was the weekly poet for the New Statesman, and during the 1980s and early 1990s he contributed a weekly satirical poem titled 'Subverse' to Punch.
