Biography
Rohini Hattangadi is an Indian actress who has worked in film, theatre and television across multiple Indian languages. She trained at the National School of Drama in New Delhi and began her career in Marathi theatre before making her film debut in Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan (1978).
She is best known for portraying Kasturba Gandhi in Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi (1982), for which she received the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Other notable roles include those in Arth (1982), Saaransh (1984), Agneepath (1990) and Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003). She has won two Filmfare Awards and one National Film Award.
