Biography
Rolf Kanies is a German actor. He was born on 21 December 1957 in Bielefeld. After training at the Westfälische Schauspielschule Bochum and the Universität der Künste Berlin, he began his career in theatre, with engagements including the Hebbel-Theater in Berlin, Schauspielhaus Bochum and productions in Kassel, Graz, Basel and elsewhere. He played roles such as Faust, Orest in Iphigenia and Biff in Death of a Salesman, as well as leading parts in musicals.
Kanies moved into film and television in 1997. His screen debut was in Margarethe von Trotta's Dark Days. He is known for portraying General der Infanterie Hans Krebs in Downfall (2004), Reginald J. Priest in the series Lexx, Adolf Hitler in Joe and Max (2002), Dr. Delriego in Hitman: Agent 47 (2015), William de Villiers in Sapphire Blue (2014) and Emerald Green (2016), and roles in Babylon Berlin (2017), The Young Karl Marx (2017) and The Silent Revolution (2018).
