Biography
Romain Goupil, also credited as Romain-Pierre Charpentier, is a French filmmaker, director, screenwriter and actor born on 12 July 1951 in Paris.
He began working in film as an assistant director on titles including The Meetings of Anna (1978) and Tess (1979). His first feature as director, Mourir à trente ans (1982), drew on his experiences as a student activist during the events of May 1968 and won the César Award for Best First Film. He has since directed a series of documentaries and fiction films, often with political themes, and has appeared as an actor in several productions.
His father, Pierre Goupil, was a cinematographer. Goupil played the father in Catherine Breillat's Fat Girl (2001).
