Biography
Ron Mueck is an Australian sculptor and former puppeteer and performer. Born in Melbourne in 1958, he began his career in puppetry and children's television in Australia before moving into film and advertising work in the United States and United Kingdom.
He is credited as the performer and voice of Ludo, and as a puppeteer on Labyrinth (1986), directed by Jim Henson. Mueck also contributed to other Henson-related projects, including creature design on the television series The Storyteller (1987–1988).
From the mid-1990s he focused on sculpture, gaining recognition for hyperrealistic figures often rendered at altered scales. His work has been exhibited internationally, including in the 1997 Sensation exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
